I first visited Balance-Rite Osteopathy in January 2014 after having been in a road traffic accident in June 2013. I suffered neck, shoulder and upper back pain and had difficulty in turning my head to the left. The thing that affected me most was being unable to lift and carry my two year old daughter because of the pain.
I was sent to a physiotherapist who gave me six sessions of treatment and on the last treatment cracked my neck- this was very painful at the time and gave me no relief from my neck pain.
When I saw Karen, she explained to me very clearly that the muscles and soft tissues had not been prepared sufficiently to accept a neck manipulation. I was amazed at how differently she worked, compared to the physio. The treatment was not massage and was very gentle and relaxing. I felt great after the first treatment! Karen did warn me, however, that I would be up and down over the course of treatment as the muscles and soft tissues had to be adjusted from the positions they had become used to. They needed to adjust to a correct, balanced and symmetrical position and that change takes some time, especially as I had been like this for 7 months.
She was right! After two or three treatments things began changing and I didn’t feel so good, however by only six sessions I felt great. Karen manipulated my neck which was not painful at all and after eight sessions I was able to turn my neck freely and now have no problems picking up my daughter!
The treatment is very different from any other therapist I’ve seen and Karen knew exactly what she was doing – I’d recommend her to everyone and have already, as my husband is now also getting treatment at the clinic for his long term back problems. Thanks so much for everything.
