Undiagnosed Bowel condition that caused Constipation and no sensation to empty bowels since birth.

“After nearly 15 years of top doctors from Guys to Great Ormond Street drawing a blank and having no idea how to help Karis, it has been nothing short of a miracle the success that Karen has achieved. Karis has a normal life for the first time ever”

Karis was born 3 months premature and has suffered her whole life with an un-diagnosed bowel condition. She endured incredible pain every day and was subjected to numerous unsavory interventions and medicines. Eventually, after being passed from hospital to hospital with no success and having in excess of 90 in-patient stays and 47 anaesthetics it was decided to go ahead with a Colostomy bag.

Karis had this for 7 years and it was eventually reversed 2 1/2 years ago. Unfortunately it was only a matter of weeks before things started to go back to the way they were. She was in constant pain with no medication being able to successfully manage her bowel movements. One of the key factors was that Karis had never had any sensation for a need to go to the toilet.

Karen heard of her case and offered to try and help. She saw Karis for 10 treatments which she provided free of charge as she was just keen to help her. Within 2 sessions Karis started to improve, both her bowel movements and also her skin which was always covered in a rash due to the toxins in her body.

Karis now has regular bowel movements and for the 1st time in her life actually gets the sensation of needing to go to the toilet. After nearly 15 years of top doctors Continue reading

Walking Incorrectly & Posture Concerns – aged 10yrs.

Casey Cheeseman enjoys her treatments at Balance-Rite Osteopathy Clinic

I took my daughter aged 10 years, to see Karen at Balance-Rite Osteopathy clinic as I was concerned at how she was walking and her posture.

Karen identified problems with her pelvis and lumbar spine which were altering the way her legs ‘hung’ from her pelvis. Casey started treatment and it was amazing to see how she walked differently after only a few sessions.

I also found it quite stunning that the skin tags that covered the areas of both of Casey’s inner thighs before treatment started, began to go and completely disappeared, after only a couple of months of treatment. This has made wearing shorts, skirts and getting changed for P.E at school, much nicer for my daughter when her legs are exposed.

My daughter enjoys her treatment sessions and I’m very pleased with the progress we have made.

Treatment after a Difficult Birth where Intervention was used

Esther has been treated regularly at Balance-Rite Osteopathy Clinic since a baby, to ensure any mechanical problems in her developing spine are picked up early enough to correct them, before they can become a real problem

Esther started seeing Karen 4 years ago, at about eight weeks old after a traumatic vontouse delivery. Her scalp plates were very rigid and her back had areas of immobility. Karen has worked with Esther to improve all these areas.

She is now a happy little girl who has grown with a healthy spine and is able to enjoy dancing and swimming without problems.

Karen still treats Esther regularly to ensure that as she grows, her back develops without any problems that could affect her later in life. It has also helped improve her constipation, skin rashes and eczema, that are all linked and can occur together.

Acute Mid-Back pain after playing Golf – aged 15 years

I called Balance-Rite Osteopathy Clinic to get an appointment for my 15 year old son as he was in a lot of pain after playing golf and he could hardly move. Although Karen was treating her last patient of the day, she kindly said she would stay on and wait for us to get there.

I was very impressed with Karen’s examination and treatment as it involved the whole body, not just the part that was hurting and she took the trouble to explain why this was so important. I was also amazed that even at the end of that first treatment my son was able to stand and move so much easier.

After only two treatments (which was only three days) my son was out of pain and moving normally and Karen said he could resume his beloved golf again – he was overjoyed!

I would highly recommend Balance-Rite Osteopathy Clinic, as their approach gets you back on your feet super-quick and I will certainly be returning as soon as a problem arises.

Ian was able to return to his sport, having tried 2 months therapy from both a chiropractor & a physiotherapist. He got no relief from his very acute symptoms until he visited us at Balance-Rite Osteopathy Clinic

Many thanks for sorting out my injury as quickly as possible.

After making no progress in almost two months of treatment with a chiropractor and physio, I was starting to wonder whether I would be able to resume my sport.

Thanks to your efforts, I am now fully back into my training regime and re-gaining my fitness in preparation for the forthcoming Great Britain crew selection time trials.

Kind regards,

Rebecca Collins
National Kumite Champion, GKR Karate Championship 2013

When I first phoned Karen she fitted me in on a Saturday afternoon after my pain had got to the point that I could not put up with it anymore, I also found the clinic very easy to find. The environment is excellent, very clean and well equipped, Karen spent some time discussing my history and trying to find the route of the injury.  After my first visit the pain in my leg was 90% better than it was before I had seen her, she explains clearly what she is doing and I always leave feeling better than when I walked in.

My 12 year old daughter, Rebecca, has had treatment at Balance-rite Osteopathy Clinic for a hamstring problem that was resolved after one treatment and now has regular maintenance sessions that keep her in top form for her karate competitions.

The treatment is first class and I have recommended Balance-Rite Osteopathy Clinic to all my friends and family.

Keen Rower and Runner

Rob attends Balance-Rite Osteopathy Clinic for regular maintenance treatment to enable him to enjoy all his activities.

I first used Balance-Rite Osteopathy clinic a few years ago, for no reason other than hitting my late fifties!

Being a fairly fit / sports individual ( I row three times a week in an old boys crew and have been rowing for 40 years, I do runs and push a few light weights ) I thought, what might keep my body in good health!

If you think about it, you will service and maintain your car but strangely not your body. So given the downward pull of gravity on the body, aching joints and inflexibility looming, I decided to do a regular maintenance routine on my body, hence every three weeks getting all the progressive defects attended to by Karen or Mark.

They have done a fab job in keeping me straight and ache free and this has really helped my posture and how I feel, I can thoroughly recommend them to anyone and fully recommend the regular visit, irrespective of problems or not. It just helps the body so much.

Keen Golfer

Richard was told by his previous osteopath that there was nothing that could be done, after treatment at Balance-Rite Osteopathy Clinic, he enjoys a better golf-swing – pain free!

I had only been at my new job for one week and it was a crucial time as the company was moving and we all had to help. I couldn’t believe it when my back suddenly went on me. I couldn’t move. My partner had to take me to A&E where they gave me some painkillers which were no good as I’m allergic to painkillers. I was recommended to go to Balance-Rite Osteopathy Clinic by my massage therapist who had been trying to manage my repeated back problems over the past few years, after I was told by my previous osteopath that there was nothing that could be done for me.

They assessed my whole body mechanics and explained that although I was feeling pain in my right low back, the problem was actually being caused from the spine in the middle of my back. I was told that this is very common in people who play golf, as this sport affects the mechanical functioning of the middle of the spine.

I was also given the option of having an intensive course of treatment, which involved three treatments in the first week, as this would be the quickest way to resolve the problem. I was very dubious, I was, however, in agony and having suffered with a similar problems in the past that took around a month to get better I thought this was being very hopeful. Continue reading

Scoliosis – Canoe racing and half marathons

Janie has maintenance treatment as she feels it keeps her joints more mobile and her able to enjoy all her activities

I was diagnosed with a scoliosis when I was about 30. I have always been active and enjoyed sport and it has never prevented me from doing anything I wanted to do. I was conscious that having this condition makes it even more important for me to look after myself as the years go by, to prevent pain and problems in later life.

I have been going to Karen for a couple of years now. The treatment is gentle, and I look forward to a good chat with Karen while she does it. I will continue with “maintenance” treatment indefinitely because it noticeably helps to keep my back and joints more mobile, making it easier to continue with all the activities that I love – recent challenges include the 125 mile Devizes to Westminster canoe race, and the “Grim Challenge” as well as a couple of half marathons each year. Long may that continue!

Low Back Injury During Training

Image of a patient, next to her testimonial

Chloe has returned to her hobby of rowing, pictured at the front in this photo.

I approached Karen for Osteopathy treatment after I had some pain in my lower back. I am part of a rowing club and think I injured myself in one of my training sessions. After realising the pain wouldn’t go away on its own, I was recommended to see Karen from my rowing coach.

I noticed relief after my first treatment. I was able to get back to rowing after just a few treatments and noticed the benefit immediately, I now have much free-er movement in my lower back and no longer experience any pain.

Karen was fantastic; very professional and knowledgeable Continue reading
