This patient presented with a fifteen year history of repeated episodes of acute low back pain twice a year that left her bed-bound and in agony. Each episode was a similar story; she would bend to make a simple movement, such as to dry her legs after a shower or to pick her clothes up from the floor, and her back would go into spasm. Her relief was in the form of very strong painkillers or muscle relaxants and being unable to move, she would be off work for at least two weeks with the pain. Having sought repeated help from her doctor, she was referred for xrays which showed early degenerative changes in her mid-back (upper lumbar spine) and she was offered more pain killers. After another painful episode and two weeks off of work, she was recommended to come to Balance-Rite Osteopathy Clinic by another satisfied patient.
